About the program
PGCC's Basic Arc Welding course introduces the knowledge and shop skills used in welding. Topics include occupational orientation, welder safety and health, drawings and welding symbols, shielded metal arc welding, thermal cutting, preparation procedures, and flat, vertical, and overhead techniques.
Introductory instruction; advanced welding and AWS qualification testing are separate PGCC courses
